Can you reapply for H4 EAD with H1B COE

Hello, I want to know if someone has been on the same boat or know if this is possible. I moved to H4 status in late 2024, at that time my husband’s I140 was not approved, so we did not file for my EAD. His i140 got approved in December 2025, and we applied for H4 EAD in February 2026. The wait time for that keeps increasing. It was 9 months initially and now has moved to 17 months. My husband is planning to switch jobs, and is almost ready to start the H1B COE process with premium processing. Is it possible for me to apply for EAD again with this bundle? Would I have to rescind the old application? As of today, EAD with I-539 takes 6.5 months and standalone takes 17.5 months. If my application is received by USCIS in early October then I should get EAD by end of May 2027. With current application it would be end of September 2027. Is it worth the risk ? submitted by /u/shruti5893 to r/h1b [link] [comments]
