I-94 with old petition date on re-entry

Hello All I want to clarify how the last action rule applies to my specific timeline, particularly because my dates overlap and what should be my next steps (given I initiated email chain with my attorney): My previous I-797A was valid through 08/25/2026 and I-94 valid through 09/04/2026. My H-1B extension was approved in March 2026, with the new I-797A validity beginning 08/26/2026 through 06/25/2029. The I-797A has a detachable I-94 showing an admit-until date in 07/05/2029. I traveled internationally and re-entered the U.S. on 06/22/2026. At re-entry, CBP issued an electronic I-94 valid only through 09/04/2026, apparently based on my prior I-797A, although I presented both I-797’s. The new I-797A and its attached I-94 were already issued before my 06/22/2026 entry but were not used by CBP to determine the electronic I-94 at entry. The CBP I-94 therefore expired on 09/04/2026, while the I-94 attached to the new I-797A begins on 08/26/2026 and is valid through July 2029. Could anyone in similar situations confirm how the last action rule applies here?
