Giving up DACA
EDIT: I meant I have administratively closed case, not removal order. I need to make sure to close my case so I don’t get in absentia removal order when I do go. I’m a Chinese DACA recipient and my USC husband and I have been planning our exit. We are in progress of i130 since I got my advanced parole opportunity in 2025, however earlier this year we decided we don’t want to keep waiting and want to start our life elsewhere. We have quit our jobs, sold our house, and almost got rid of everything. Our initial departure date was October but we encountered an issue… I had a removal order that I thought I could ignore and just abandon, big mistake on my part especially since I would like to keep a clean record so I can get tourist visa and visit my friends & the place I once called home. We’ve been documenting our journey on YouTube. YouTube starting this journey was scary & saying it out loud on the internet was scarier. However the community online is so affirming as so many immigrants and DACA recipients have reached out in support. Fellow DACA recipients, whatever you decide to do, stay strong! submitted by /u/kit20z to r/DACA [link] [comments]
