Need help budgeting while supporting my wife who is in college
I’ll keep it short. I make just over 100k+ a year. I’m looking at trying to budget and actually save properly while supporting my wife who is in college for the next year. I pay all the bills. Managing all of this feels harder than it should be and I need to know if I’m wrong anywhere. My issue is managing my personal savings with our joint savings. My short term goal is to buy a car. Long term just save. I get paid weekly. 1450 a week. A month 5800. Rent: 1250 a month Utilities: 300 a month Car insurance: 100 a month Groceries: 250 a month Joint Savings: 500 a week Wife: 150 a week (giving her this money to use as she pleases. She’s great at saving) Gas: hardly anything. School is close by. Full tank costs 60 bucks Based off this information can I get some general advice on how much I should save for my own personal savings and if I should adjust anything anywhere? I wouldn’t mind increasing savings anywhere but is this a good plan? I want to start paying off my student loans as well submitted by /u/fashionslash to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]
