Vehicle payoff error

So, I've been financing a vehicle through Toyota Financial Services, and for some reason, the entire balance got paid off. I thought this was an error in the email, so I didn't pay much attention to it. But I checked the mail today, and I received the title with a signed lien release and a letter saying that my account is paid in full. I definitely did not pay my vehicle off in full myself, and I don't think im lucky. I expect them to find out about the error and want their payments and the title. What do I do to protect myself? I can't keep paying them because the account is closed. I have the physical title in my hand. I will be contacting them when I can. I just want as little hassle as possible for the future. Obviously I wish I could just get away with it but I highly doubt that will happen. submitted by /u/Kanapeczkii to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]
