Why is it so hard to get admitted to a PhD program?

I've been applying continuously for almost a year, and I'm totally exhausted by now. I've had several interviews, but they all led to nothing. I spent a lot of time preparing for each interview, even doing mock interviews with others. Should I continue on this difficult journey, or should I find another path in life? I just wanted to confess something. Thank you for taking the time to read this. submitted by /u/True_Ad_2612 to r/gradadmissions [link] [comments]
