How much “extra” cash do you all keep in savings?

Hi all, Leading with the question, more context below - how much extra cash (non-emergency fund) do you keep in savings for things like home projects, vacations, etc.? Or do you not really have a set amount? More context - we have our emergency fund funded and are making out our retirement savings currently. With that in mind, we are struggling right now to find a sweet spot of cash holdings vs putting any extra cash month to month in a brokerage account. We’re torn because we want to have cash available to spend on potential projects around the house, or trips with our growing family but we don’t have a great idea of how much those might cost over the next few years. This leads to use not being sure how much extra cash we should have in an HYSA vs putting it in a brokerage to increase its growing potential. If there is more information that would be helpful please ask and I’ll edit the post! Edit - we are early 30s with one child under a year old submitted by /u/Arutig3 to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]
