Buying a house worth it if our careers are AI-vulnerable?

Hello. Fiance and I (late 30s) are interested in buying a house. I'm our area, owning is much more expensive than renting, so we have been budgeting for a home as a lifestyle expense. However, we are getting nervous about pulling the trigger. I'm a data scientist and she's a marketing strategist. Both fields have been heavily impacted by AI. Our combined income is $300,000. We have about $200,000 saved. Home prices on our area run from about $750k to $850k. We rent for $3k, and a mortgage after a hefty down payment would be about $4.2k to $5k. We have about $550k combined in retirement funds. No kids. We both already put an extra $1.5k a month into savings, so our increased housing would be absorbed from that. I imagine we'll have to increase cash savings again once we make more money. On paper, an $850k house looks doable... But man, everything just feels so unstable. We might make a ton of money right now but if one of us loses our jobs, we are going to be in trouble. It makes it hard to justify, especially since the our apartment is "fine" while an $850k house would be a much more comfortable living space but in a worse location.
