the existential crisis of being a dreamer in your 20s

can someone make an edit with that one olivia rodrigo song saying “i had big dreams till i tied myself to you” and it’s the united states lol but honestly, i’ve been feeling like i’m spiraling lately, and that song has been reminding me of how sometimes i genuinely wonder if coming to the united states as a child was actually worse for me than staying in mexico. i feel like i have a lot of resentment toward my parents, even though i know they only wanted what was best for me and genuinely thought they were giving me a better life. my daca has been “in process” since 2021, and i’m getting closer to 25 now. it’s really hard seeing other people my age accomplishing things, building careers, buying homes, traveling, getting married, etc., while i feel like my life has been on pause. i was laid off 9 months ago from my “real” job. i have a degree i can’t use. now i have a nanny job where i’m barely scraping by, and i do doordash all night using my boyfriend’s account just to make ends meet. sometimes i can’t help but feel like an absolute failure. and honestly, there are times when i think that if my parents had just left me in mexico, maybe they could’ve done more for me there. i’m a s…
