TPS ending, Ukrainian friends panicking, next steps?
My girlfriend (F50s) is here in the United States (in Colorado) on TPS (Temporary Protected Status). The current Trump administration decided to end that on October 19 of this year. Her daughter and her daughter's husband (early 20s), also both Ukrainian citizens, are also here on TPS; they live in Texas. They have a son who was born here in the US, so is a US citizen (he is under 5 years-old). They have been here on TPS for four years, though her daughter also lived here for a year as a foreign exchange student and fell in love with the country. They're casting about trying to figure out what to do now that TPS is ending. Of course the Russia-Ukraine war is still raging on. Their hometown in Ukraine is in Russian occupied territory, and now Russian citizens live in their homes. They'd be returning home to almost certain death. Her daughter mentioned maybe Canada, but I see they've stopped taking Ukrainian refugees. Most of Europe is closed to them too. Any ideas for where they can go, what they can do? submitted by /u/Frecklefoot to r/immigration [link] [comments]
