Part-time job offering retirement plan, how much should i contribute?

hi everyone! i am a 22 year old college graduate, and my seasonal job at a franchise that i have been working at for the past 3 years is now offering a chance to contribute part of my paycheck to a retirement plan in the Freedom Index Fund through ADP. right now the default contribution is 3% of my before tax paycheck and there are options to do an annual increase of 1% a year up to 10%, or I can just change the percentage myself. i make $18/hr and i work about 30 hours a week. I don’t have any sort of retirement plans or real savings right now. in addition to this job i work a second part time job and i am about to start a third position as an independent contractor for my second company. i intend to stay at my franchise job for a little bit, but i do not intend to continue to work here for the rest of my life. my question is just how much of my paycheck i should be devoting to this retirement plan? i dont pay rent or have any real expenses besides gas and entertainment so i feel like it is smart to just take a decent chunk out of my paycheck and forget it exists, but at the same time i feel like 90% is a bit extreme 😅 submitted by /u/Individual-Pound3670 to r/personalfinance [li…
