Study abroad with university or through another program

Hi guys, I’m thinking about studying abroad and I have run into a question. So my university offers study abroad opportunities that would be led with faculty from the university as well as obviously other students who attend the school. I think that this would be a great opportunity to make friends with some people who I could realistically keep in touch with if I wanted to after the trip since they go to the same school as me and on top of that I would have a trusted faculty member be with us throughout the trip. I just have a slight problem…so I have some sleeping issues where I make noise and my sleep and I don’t want to burden someone who would ultimately be sleeping in the same room as me the entire trip. That’s where another program could come handy. I’ve done some research into other programs that my university would be able to accept credits from and some programs offer single rooms. Problem solved for the sleeping issue. Now comes the social aspect issue. The whole point is to make friends while studying abroad and I think it could be cool to have friends from all over the world if I were to join a program not led by my university but I also liked the idea of having people…
