Wanted to know if its safe to travel domestically if EAD has ended and on 180 days automatic extension, Stem OPT in progress and biometrics done.

Hoping to get some real experiences from people in a similar spot. My situation: F-1, post-completion OPT EAD has expired Timely-filed STEM OPT extension, so I'm in the 180-day automatic extension period Application still pending with USCIS, biometrics already done I have my I-797 receipt notice, valid passport, and I-20 I need to take a domestic flight (not leaving the US). My understanding is that domestic travel doesn't involve CBP/immigration and I just need a TSA-acceptable ID like my passport. But I've been seeing posts/comments claiming ICE has been at airports checking people with pending cases, and now I'm second-guessing it. For anyone who has flown domestically recently while on the 180-day STEM OPT extension: Did you run into any issues at TSA or in the terminal? What documents did you carry? Anything you'd do differently? submitted by /u/Ok_Award_8656 to r/f1visa [link] [comments]
