A few thoughts.
Finally approved. Like many of you, I spent months checking my case, reading posts on here, worrying about my job, and wondering what was going to happen next. It was exhausting mentally and physically. There were definitely moments when I felt hopeless. But giving up was never really an option for me. My parents sacrificed too much for me to be here. I’ve worked too hard to build the life I have. I’m not throwing that away. If anything, this experience reminded me how easy it is to get comfortable with DACA. You renew every couple of years, get your new card, go back to work, and continue with life. Until suddenly there’s a delay, your expiration date gets closer, and you realize just how much of your life depends on that little card. Your job. Your bills. Your driver’s license. Your plans. Your ability to help your family. It puts things into perspective. It also made me realize that I need to pay more attention to what’s happening around us. The laws and policies that affect us, what’s happening with DACA, and how quickly things can change. Our situation is strange. We’re expected to build normal lives while knowing that something completely outside of our control can suddenly c…
