Do people’s accent change?

I was wondering since I’m also an international student and because of this conversation I had with my dad. While my dad was studying in Denmark in the 2000s, he had a Danish friend who went to the UK for an exchange program for a semester. Apparently she had a stereotypical “American” accent but came back with a full-fledged English accent and found it hard to switch back to the American accent. But since alot of international students are known to have a “blank” accent that sounds like a stereotypical “American” and alot of us are used to code switching, I was wondering if international students who end up moving to overseas schools observed the same phenomenon. submitted by /u/probrainrotconsumer to r/InternationalStudents [link] [comments]
