Writ of Mandamus question

Has anyone filed a Writ of Mandamus without filing an expedite request? I filed on 2/16/26 and have not heard back. I had API movement on the I-821D on 6/25/26 but nothing on the I-765 since I submitted the biometrics. My current card expired 8/6/26 but I have until 9/7/26 to get my updated card or I will lose my job. I submitted a congressional inquiry with congress on 6/8/26. An agent submitted an Inquiry on my behalf on 7/9/26. I have yet to hear back from both. My question is has anyone submitted a writ of mandamus without filing an expedite request? I filed the application myself as I always have. I am considering consulting a lawyer today to get a writ of mandamus filed as soon as possible but I am not sure I have sufficient evidence or if it will even get resolved before 9/7. If anyone has filed one with a lawyer what is the average cost? Thank you all for the info!! Filed: 2/16/26 Receipt notice: 2/17/26 Biometrics: 3/13/26 Congressional Inquiry submitted: 6/8/26 API movement on I-821D: 6/25/26 Agent Inquiry: 7/6/26 Pre-suit email sent (no reply): 7/23/26 submitted by /u/darkfern to r/DACA [link] [comments]
