stem opt exceeding

My bf recently told me that he got laid off nov-end 2025 on his STEM OPT. However he didn’t find another job and did not report it until feb-end 2026. He then used his remaining unemployment days until June and transferred to F1 when he got into a masters program. He now has a valid i20 and everything but would there be any issues in the future?
