Canadian Married US Citizen

Hello, I’m a Canadian citizen visiting the US on summer vacation. I’ve been in a long distance relationship for 2 years with my partner here, I’ve been here for about a month when he surprised me with a proposal and we got married. I’m supposed to go home in a couple days (since I didn’t know we’d get married) but I want to apply for a greencard to stay here! We’d always dream about our plans of living together in his state. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? I spoke briefly to an attorney on the phone who said to wait until I’ve been here 60 days to apply. But after some research I’m just overwhelmed. Some info- I do have a return ticket, my I-94 does show my legal entry, we have our marriage certificate, and I can answer more. Any tips help. I just don’t want to pay $6k for an attorney if I don’t have to…. Sorry if this is messy. Thanks so much! submitted by /u/soggy-loaf-of-bread to r/greencard [link] [comments]
