Father passed away. There’s still a mortgage to be paid. What are my options?

Hello, My father passed away a few days ago from a sudden heart attack. He was in charge of the mortgage and name is on title, I believe my mom is too but she works part time at a fast food restaurant and for obvious reasons, cannot carry the mortgage payment on her own so I’m going to step in and help pay most of it. I am a small business owner with slow seasons and while I’ve been responsible enough, for anyone that has ever owned a small business knows that there is a lot of uncertainty with consistent income. Both of my parents are immigrants, my dad dedicated his life to providing a home for his family and losing our home is not an option. Are there any resources that can help lessen the load in some way? Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. submitted by /u/pnw-possum to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]
