My aunt deposited a huge check, didnt check her bank for it to clear, months later and there's no money.

So long story short, my aunt sold her car privately for a large sum of money. The buyers and her went to the bank together to deposit the check. The bank said it would be on hold 2 days because of the large amount. She argued about that because of the type of check it was. I dont know the details of this part, but they insisted it would be on hold 2 days and it would clear then. My aunt is not good with records, she forgot to check the bank to see if it cleared. Its not her primary bank she had it deposited to. Well today she calls for help on navigating the bank site, then says the money isnt in there. I scanned through all her statements of the past 12 months and dont see anything. This is older than 90 days so all we have our statements and there's not a single statement showing a check deposited, on hold, cleared, or bouncing. Just nothing. Im not even sure if it would show up on a statement if it did bounce. I checked her emails for any notices of check clearance issues and found nothing. I know her primary bank sends these notices but im not sure if this bank does. Is there anything she can do or is this a complete loss?? Its been so long (6+mo <24mo) she doesnt even remem…
