How have I failed so miserably while everyone around me is doing fine.

EDIT: Thank you for everyone’s comments, it’s pretty obvious it’s the single income household that’s setting us apart. And with that we had kids late in life, so most of my co-workers around the same age who have older kids are past this stage. We have a year until our youngest will be in school full time so I think that will help out a lot with her working then. I should be thankful we aren’t in debt and managing to get through the last 5 years of one income, it just gets to me sometimes, like I’m taking away my kids childhood being in an apartment instead of a neighborhood. When I was 18 my parents made around 18/19$ each, we had a decent house, 2 cars, a boat. Went to the beach or camping or sporting events every weekend. I use to look at jobs thinking if I can just find something around $20 an hour when I’m older I’ll be set. Get me a small ranch house and a decent truck. Have a family and kids. I’m now just about to turn 39, I have a wife and 2 kids who are starting school this year. My wife stays home, so no daycare. I currently make 140k per year (more than I ever dreamed), my take home bi-weekly is 3250 after all deductions/taxes. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment, kids shar…
